Send a short, current property note
Describe rooms, unusual layouts, delicate furnishings, and spaces that should not be entered. Keep the note specific: a locked owner's cupboard is more useful information than a general request to be careful. Explain any material or fixture care requirements so they can be discussed before work is agreed.
Remove outdated instructions when the layout changes. If a sofa bed has been added or a previously unused room is now part of the rental, tell the provider rather than relying on an older property description.
Decide what happens to belongings and leftover items
Secure private documents, valuables, and personal belongings before the visit. Identify owner-only storage and make clear which guest-facing areas form part of the request. Do not expect the cleaner to decide what you want kept, discarded, or moved.
Ask how unexpected guest belongings or leftover food should be handled. A hypothetical owner might want an item left untouched until they can review it; that preference needs an agreed instruction, not an assumption that the cleaner will make the decision.
Resolve access without exposing security details
Explain at the quote stage whether there are access restrictions or a need to coordinate with someone on site. Do not put entry codes, alarm codes, or other sensitive security details in the public form. Agree a suitable private handoff after contact.
Check that the property will actually be available during the agreed visit. Guests staying late, ongoing deliveries, and owner visits can change access to rooms even when entry to the building is possible. Raise those conflicts before the appointment.
Clarify supplies, equipment, and linen arrangements
Ask what, if anything, you need to provide for the agreed clean. Do not buy equipment based on an assumed Lamarks requirement, and do not assume that items stored at the property will be used without discussion.
If your plan involves laundry, bed changes, or replenishing guest supplies, ask whether those tasks can be included and who provides the items. Decide where any agreed replacements should be kept. These arrangements are separate from simply giving a bedroom count.
Report changed conditions before work starts
Mention unfinished repairs, unavailable rooms, or a condition that differs from the quote description. Cleaning instructions should not stand in for a repair plan. If you are unsure whether something fits the agreed clean, describe it and ask.
Keep one contact available for questions through the agreed channel. If requested work has changed, reconfirm the scope, final price, and appointment arrangement personally rather than treating your preparation note as approval for extra work.
Questions you may have
Do I need to pre-clean the property?
Do not assume a full pre-clean is required. Focus on accurate information, secured personal items, and agreed preparation tasks. Ask what is needed for your particular visit.
Should I send an entry code with my quote request?
No. Keep entry codes and alarm details out of the public form. Discuss an appropriate private access handoff after speaking with Lamarks.
What if maintenance is still underway?
Tell Lamarks which areas are affected and when the work is expected to finish. Ask whether the proposed cleaning visit remains suitable; do not assume it can proceed unchanged.
